What if you had the opportunity to change somebody’s life for the better, but all they needed was just a little hand.

The Invictus Project was born out of a need to help people who want to experience all the joy and clarity Martial Arts can provide, but due to reasons out of their control they may not be able to afford to train and therefore these experiences are out of their reach.

We at CMA with the assistance of the Patricia Dukes Foundation every year aim to provide opportunities to young people with recognized mental health difficulties the opportunity to use Martial Arts as a platform to keep things “constant” and use training as a source of clarity in an often very confusing world.

This is a very passionate and personal pursuit of mine because as a teenager I was one of these people, and Martial Arts was often the one thing that kept me on track, so it’s very important for me that in today’s society we can help some young people get over the obstacles they have, and give them a vehicle to be better people, and also at The Shed (the affectionate name we give our facility) have a place to call home.

There is no specific criteria, and no application process. We look in the community of people we know after having been in this area for over 20 years and use our contacts to find people most suited. We find by this approach we have had much more success as it is a more personal connection.

These three fine humans are our Invictus Project recipients for 2017!!

Duy, Bella and Kienan have displayed all the qualities we look for and have shown how much they enjoy and need the shed and CMA, so with the assistance of the Patricia Dukes Foundation in conjunction with the Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital we are again lucky to support all training costs for these three young people 100% for all of 2017!! Uniforms, training fees, private lessons, competition costs, travel and whatever else they need. I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captain of my Soul. Get ready for a big year you three.
